Rob Fischer

Rob Fischer brings a deeply technical and intuitive understanding of wine to Oceano Zero, helping guide each bottle from vineyard through the complexities of alcohol removal. Working alongside founder Rachel Martin, Rob approaches the process with the same attention to fruit, structure, balance, and varietal expression expected of traditional fine wine, while navigating the distinct challenges of creating an exceptional alcohol-removed wine.
His work is grounded in the belief that removing alcohol should not mean removing the character that made the wine compelling in the first place. From evaluating the base wines to refining aroma, texture, acidity, and finish, Rob brings precision and sensory judgment to each stage of the process, helping preserve the qualities of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir while allowing each to retain its own identity.
At the heart of Rob’s approach is balance: respecting what comes from the vineyard while understanding how each element of the wine changes through transformation. His technical rigor, curiosity, and attention to detail help give Oceano Zero its depth and integrity, creating wines that remain connected to their coastal origins while offering a distinctly new expression of them.
