Second-generation vintner Rachel Martin founded Oceano Zero to bring a fine-wine sensibility to the alcohol-removed category. With more than two decades in wine, her experience spans vineyards, winemaking, hospitality, education, and brand building. She previously led her family’s Virginia vineyard and winery and helped establish the Middleburg Virginia AVA. Rachel studied wine sensory science at the University of Bordeaux and enology and viticulture at Napa Valley College, and is Co-Founder and Author of AFNA Wine Certified™.

Napa native Rob Fischer brings more than 25 years of winemaking experience to Oceano Zero, with a focus on cool-climate vineyards, varietal character, and sense of place. Instrumental in selecting Oceano Zero’s coastal vineyard sites, he approaches each wine with its finished alcohol-removed expression in mind. His career includes Domaine Carneros, Etude, Beaulieu Vineyard, Cuvaison, and Banshee. He is also founding winemaker and partner at Marine Layer Wines, where his work centers on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah from California’s coastal vineyards.

Cristina Ruales is an internationally recognized designer and creative director whose work spans fashion, branding, interiors, and visual storytelling. Founder of Cristina Ruales™, she has presented collections during New York Fashion Week and sold through leading luxury retailers in the U.S. and internationally. Educated at Parsons and Yale, she later returned to Parsons as an educator. At Oceano Zero, Cristina leads creative direction across visual identity, packaging, digital, and brand expression, bringing a distinctly fashion-led point of view to the world of wine.

Spanish Springs Vineyard
Oceano’s original vineyard source since 2016, Spanish Springs sits in Price Canyon on California’s San Luis Obispo Coast, just 1.5 miles from the Pacific. Morning marine layer and afternoon ocean breezes extend the growing season, preserving the vibrant acidity, aromatic detail, and freshness that define its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Rooted in ancient seabed soils of limestone, sandstone, and marine shale, the vineyard brings mineral tension, structure, and a distinctly coastal character to the wines. Spanish Springs is SIP Certified (Sustainability in Practice), recognizing rigorous standards for environmental stewardship, responsible farming, and social responsibility. Shaped by its proximity to the Pacific, Spanish Springs is the coastal foundation of Oceano.
Gap’s Crown Vineyard
For Oceano Zero’s vineyard-designate Limited Edition Pinot Noir, Oceano sources from Gap’s Crown, one of California’s most celebrated Sonoma Coast vineyards. Set high on the western slope of Sonoma Mountain above Penngrove, the vineyard is shaped by Pacific fog and persistent winds that funnel through the Petaluma Gap. At elevations of approximately 300 to 800 feet, much of the vineyard sits above the fog line, creating a distinctive balance of cool-climate freshness, sunlight, and concentration.
Rocky, volcanic-influenced soils bring structure, depth, and balanced acidity to the Pinot Noir—a singular expression of this remarkable California coastal site.
